DME Girls Conquer West Oaks
DME pulled out a close game in a double overtime thriller, 71-69.
Sophomore Brianna Raynor had a double-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Kyani Moore also had a double-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
DME Girls led at half-time, 29-24, Alexis Duckett scored 10 of her 12 points in the first half to help DME get off to a good start.
In the second half, DME led by as much as 12 points but found themselves trailing by 3 points with 0:40 seconds left when Brianna Raynor converted on a 3-point play to tie the game, which sent the game into overtime, 60-60.
Both teams only managed to score 2 points in the first overtime. In the second overtime, Mary McMillan hit her only 3-pointer of the game to put DME up by four. West Oaks fought back and cut the lead to 1 with 0:15 left on the clock.
After Kyani Moore made one of two free throws, West Oaks had a chance to tie and win the game with 0:08 left but Nikulochkina’s shot attempt came up short and DME prevailed with a two-point victory on the road in their first SIAA conference game of the season against a very talented West Oaks team.
